    Article Snippet: Segmentation of cells using a custom function implemented in MATLAB named “blobMask”, followed by manual correction using Fiji. (A,B) The original image is first smoothed with a Gaussian filter and dilated with a diamond structuring element. (C) The image is then scaled by 0.4-fold and subtracted from the original image followed by median filtering, resulting in cells surrounded by a ring of darker background intensities to allow accurate masking using a global threshold. (D) The mask is saved as an overlay on the original image to facilitate manual corrections with the pencil tool in Fiji (see Supplemental Methods).
